Status: Soft-opening tonight
After beginning as a pop-up at Guerilla Café in Berkeley, Kingston 11 is finally ready to bring its brand of Jamaican fare to a brand-new brick-and-mortar in Uptown Oakland. Softly opening tonight, the new spot comes from owners Nigel Jones, Adrian Henderson, and Andre King. The menu will feature small plates like spicy grilled shrimp, plantains with black bean sauce and sour créme, and caramelized spiced peppers, plus entrees like jerk chicken, oxtail stew and curry crab and chicken in coconut milk stew.
In addition to the Caribbean menu, the new spot will feature a full-service rum bar with a focus on creative rum cocktails as well as other liquors and wine and beer. The team will open with dinner service only, but will begin lunch and brunch service in mid-December, at which point opening hours will be Tuesday to Thursday, 11am to 10pm, Friday to Saturday 11am to 2am, and Sunday 8am to 3pm. For right now, hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 5pm to 11:30pm.
