Next Monday, Eater will present the 2013 Eater Awards, our fourth annual celebration of all that's made America's restaurant world run—and run wild—in the past twelve months. Winners will be selected on both the local and national levels in five major categories, the voting for which began Monday.
Here's how the voting works across the board: Eater editors have named nominees for each of five major categories from restaurants and bars that either opened or moved since November 2012. Eater readers will vote, narrowing the nominees to three finalists. From those three finalists, the Eater editorial team will select a winner. Ready to play your part? This poll will be open for 24 hours; voting irregularities will be strictly policed.
Today, it's time to vote for the Bartender of the Year. Our five nominees: The Bon Vivants, who scored the Mission's bar hit of the year with beautiful and innovative Trick Dog; Christina Cabrera, who ably leads the bustling staff (and labor-intensive draft punch program) at Novela; Russell Davis and Yael Vengroff, whose smart menu and speed cocktailing skills make Bergerac the ultimate fusion of mixology and party bar; Zachary Brian Taylor, who helped revive a longtime restaurant and explored intriguing Middle Eastern ingredients at Ziryab; and Tim Zohn, who's setting the standard for aperitifs with his clever "loopholes" at TBD. Whose concoctions shook up the beverage world in 2013? Time to vote:
The polls close at 10 am PST on Friday, November 15. Stay tuned for our concluding vote, for Stone Cold Stunner, tomorrow.
