Cervecería de MateVeza is stretching out after establishing their 18th Street storefront nearly two years ago. The caffeinated beer spot is now plotting out a restaurant and small brewery in Uptown Oakland to feature Argentinean fare alongside MateVeza's signature yerba mate infused beers. The 2,300 square feet Telegraph Avenue space will serve as a test kitchen for new beer recipes as well as a brewpub with 15 beers on tap (plus growlers to go). El Porteño empanadas will be on offer.
According to owner Jim Woods, the opening date is forecasted as early summer 2014. Meanwhile, there's something else afoot: an ABC license application indicates that MateVeza could also be setting up another shop on Polk Street at Green. Details are scarce, but keep an eye out for lots more caffeinated beer to come.
