Presidio Pizza Co. Taking Frankie's Bohemian Cafe Space

Last month we brought word that longtime beer and Czech food outpost Frankie's Bohemian Cafe had closed its doors, but even before that, we were speculating that pizza was in the Divisadero space's future. All this and more has indeed come to pass, as Tablehopper reports that thin-crust New York style and Sicilian style pizza are en route to the corner of Divis and Pine.

Fishbowl Bar & Grill owners Kevin Kynoch and John Miles are behind the spot, along with chef-partner Frank Bumbalo, who will bring his Brooklyn upbringing to bear on Presidio Pizza Company, an East Coast-style pizzeria. He's already enlisted the help of Chris Norton, formerly a line cook at A16, and is currently hiring for more kitchen staff to turn out specialty pies like square, thin-crust "grandma pizza." A clean and modern interior redesign includes recently uncovered original redwood planks, and will open up two entrances: one on Divis for table service, and the other on Pine for a quick slice to enjoy on the go. Hours will be blessedly late, with pizza being served Sunday to Wednesday 11am-11pm, Thursday 11am to 12am, and Friday and Saturday 11am to 2:30am. The crew is targeting a mid-December opening, so keep your eyes open for updates soon.
