The Huntington Hotel announced a $15 million renovation today, which will shutter the entire hotel (excepting the spa) and its restaurant, Big 4, from January 4 through the spring of 2014. The management team refused to release any further details, only saying that the changes are "intended to build upon the charm, graciousness and exceptionally high standards that define The Huntington Hotel and Big 4." Given the trend towards more casual hotel restaurants in SF and the closures of similarly old-school Masa's and Tommy Toy's this year, could this be the end of days for the Big 4's classic clubby vibe?
