As a fan of Acquerello, Bauer had high hopes for sister spot 1760, but was disappointed by Adam Tortosa's food: "The menu is like a palette of random colors without any theme or vision," from "lifeless" bucatini with gritty bread crumbs to the "salt on salt on salt" fried duck sandwich. The service was solid, with "some of the best out-of-the-gate focus [he's] seen," but the same can't be said for the "too-sweet" cocktails or "ear-piercing" noise. Overall, it's a bust: "conceptually interesting but ultimately soulless." Two stars. [Chron]
