After a little over a year in the brick-lined space at 584 Washington Street, Turkish restaurant Machka is on its way out, and Kusakabe, a sushi restaurant from Sushi Ran's current sushi chef, Mitsunori "Nori" Kusakabe, will be taking its place. According to Tablehopper, Kusakabe will leave Sushi Ran in mid-December after almost a decade behind the sushi bar, and transform the space into a high-end sushi palace.
Meanwhile, Inside Scoop caught up with Machka's owner, Farshad Owji, who says that while this location hasn't worked out, he's moving forward with the Machka brand and is in the process of opening a Dallas location owned and operated by foreign investors. For now, Machka remains open. Further details and a timeline on Kusakabe, as well as Machka's official closing date, are still to come.
