The citywide brewery boom has marked another target: the Lower Haight. Haighteration brings word of movement at the long-vacant corner of Haight and Pierce, where a brewpub is in the works from Robert Patterson, co-owner of Mission restaurant Ken Ken Ramen as well as boutiques Voyager and Revolver. Now, he's looking to transform the site of a former laundromat into a microbrewery, beer supply store and cafe.
Some "experienced brewer friends" from New York City are going to advise Patterson, who's planning on putting out a variety of ales, meads, IPAs, and more. There'll be menu of Japanese-inspired small plates on offer alongside Black Sands' brew selection, and a cafe counter with a separate Haight Street entrance will be serving up beans from Potrero Hill's Front Coffee. Patterson is targeting summer 2014 for the unveiling of this ambitious new project, so stay tuned for updates.
