FiDi diners mourning the passing of Zog's Dogs have a new lunch outlet that may offer relief: Street Food Dojo, which has assumed Zog's kiosk location on Post and Montgomery. The new outfit is all about showcasing the breadth of Asian-style street food fusion, with items like kimchee fried rice with a soft poached egg, kung fu fries with five-spice pork and dashi gravy, and grilled spam wrapped in rice and nori. (See their menu here.)
The project comes from chefs Lawrence Lee (formerly of Mercury Lounge), Johnny Honda and Mark Hayashida (who cooked at Skool and San Jose's Blowfish Sushi). Together, the three aim to offer global Asian cuisine on the go, and will rotate their menu accordingly (look out for ramen, kimchee stew, and housemade pho). If you're still jonesing for a hot dog, the new spot offers the Dojo Dawg, a tribute to Zog's Dogs that's topped with wasabi and sriracha coleslaw, furikake and fried shallots. Hours are Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm.
