Local chocolatiers Socola are on their way to a brick-and-mortar of their very own: founders/sisters Wendy and Susan Lieu have secured a SOMA space (535 Folsom Street) that will combine a commercial kitchen and a retail storefront with espresso drinks, pastries, and educational classes in chocolate making and chocolate-and-wine pairing. They're looking to raise $10K, with rewards like a 16-piece box of cognac truffles ($25) or 40 boxes of a custom flavor ($1000). Opening is planned for mid-to-late January. [Kickstarter]
