Regular visitors to Mission Street Food, the pop-up predecessor to Mission Chinese Food, probably recall their elaborate homage dinners that paid tribute to chefs like Rene Redzepi, Michel Bras, and Pascal Barbot, among others. Now, thanks to a tweet from Lucky Peach editor and MSF kitchen alum Chris Ying, word comes that the tables have been turned: London restaurant Ben's Canteen is doing a MSF tribute menu next week in honor of Chinese New Year.
Dishes will include the PB&J (that's pork belly and jicama) flatbread, the Mission Burger (itself inspired by Londoner Heston Blumenthal), a take on Danny Bowien's fried rice, and more. The best part? They're replicating the dragon that hangs inside MCF with one of their own, constructed out of plastic milk bottles.
