SOMA—SFist brings word of Garaje, a new spot in the former Bill's Kitchen space on 3rd Street. Owned by the gentlemen behind the Design District's Dos Piñas Taqueria and Café Pazzo, the joint is an eclectic fusion of American, Latino, and Asian influences in a way that's reminiscent of neighboring HRD Coffee Shop, with menu items like tacos, Chinatown ribs with pineapple fried rice, escabeche, and a cheeseburger. They've also got eight draft beers and an APPLAUSE sign over the door, because hey, why not. [SFist]
SAUSALITO—Fast Food Francais is now open in the former Plate Shop space. As the name suggests, it offers American fare with a French twist, like goat-cheese mac-and-cheese, vadouvan wings with creme fraiche dip, and a duck confit burger. The new owners are also behind Le Garage in Sausalito and L'Appart in San Anselmo; given the renovation period of only a few weeks, the space hasn't changed too much. [Scoop]
PLEASANT HILL—Fans of Zachary's Chicago Pizza who live in the outer reaches of the East Bay 'burbs (or are willing to go afield to avoid the lines) will be pleased to learn that the chain has opened its fourth location in Pleasant Hill, right next to Century Theatres. The Diablo Dish checked it out, and found the pizza "just as tasty" as the restaurant's Berkeley, Oakland, and San Ramon. It's got benches made from bleachers salvaged from the old Cal football stadium, too. [Diablo Dish]
OAKLAND—Boris Portnoy of Satellite Republic is doing a pop-up at Oakland wine bar The Punchdown this weekend, with an added treat: a flight of four wines from Georgia (that's the country, not the state). They'll have nine courses of equally Georgian fare, all served family-style, for $40; wine is an additional $20. There's more info at their website. [EaterWire]
