Though Thomas McNaughton just made the James Beard Rising Star Chef longlist for stalwart Flour + Water, not newbie Central Kitchen, GQ's Alan Richman is a fan of the latter spot, naming it as the only Bay Area entrant among the 12 spots on his 2013 Best New Restaurants list. Says Richman: "The gifted and obsessive McNaughton moves up in the ranks of America's least recognized great young chefs...His composed plates have so many ingredients I couldn't keep track of them all."
