OAKLAND—James Syhabout's Hawker Fare has finally gotten its full liquor license, which means it's time for a new menu of bar bites and cocktails. EBX critic Luke Tsai checked out the new offerings, and dug the soft-shell salt-and-pepper shrimp, charcoal-grilled pork shoulder skewers, and "dangerously" easy-to-drink $1 pineapple-rum Jell-O shots. The cocktail menu is affordable, too, with most drinks in the $6-7 range. [EBX]
HAYES VALLEY—Cute French grocery and cheese shop Gourmet & More is hosting a "Le Patio Pop-Up" happy-hour party tomorrow with McVicker Pickles and Strange Wines. The former will be debuting their new bacon jam, which they'll be serving up on French bread, while the latter will provide two French sparkling wines and one Prosecco for pairing with the jam (which will also be available in jars for sale). SOMA—In honor of the Oscars this Sunday, Prospect is treating everyone who comes in for dinner that night to a complimentary glass of Prosecco and bowl of caramel popcorn with cocoa nibs. They'll have the ceremony airing on their big-screen TV, so you can catch all the acceptance speeches as you dine. [EaterWire]
SOMA—Urban winery Bluxome Street already hosts a food market, and now they're expanding into trucks as well, with a new weekly "Dine in the Drive" series that will host a different food truck each Friday night, featuring pairings with the house wines. The series kicks off this Friday with Del Popolo's pizza; next Friday will bring kati rolls from Kasa Indian Eatery, and the Friday after, Vietnamese fare from Little Green Cyclo. [EaterWire]
