balesteri.jpgA month after Peter McNee left Poggio in Sausalito, the restaurant has announced his replacement: 32-year-old former senior sous chef Benjamin Balesteri. A California Culinary Academy grad who initially joined Poggio in 2008, Balesteri left for New York to work as the opening sous chef under Jonathan Benno at New York's Lincoln before returning to Sausalito last year. Balesteri, who grew up in a Central Coast farming and fishing family, has already added a few new dishes to Poggio's menu, including seared scallops, tortellini in brodo, and a roasted beet salad.
