Next Stop For Ike's Place: Los Angeles

New, 7 comments

Now that he's expanded his Ike's Place empire throughout the Bay Area, with locations in SF, Oakland, Santa Rosa, Salinas, Cupertino, Danville and Santa Clara, Ike Shehadeh has set his sights on a second major metro area for his sandwich cult: Los Angeles. According to Inside Scoop, he's targeting an undisclosed "high-profile" location in the City of Angels for his first SoCal sandwich shop, and while Dodgers fans may kvell, the Madison Bumgarner and Matt Cain sandwiches (the latter of which is Shehadeh's #2 seller, after the infamous Menage a Trois) will both make the menu. But Dodger fans will also get their due: there will definitely be a Jackie Robinson menu item, and Vin Scully and Jeff Kent may also see their names in sandwich lights.

Meanwhile, Ike is moving forward on six new Bay Area locations: he's signed leases in Walnut Creek, Monterey, Foster City, and near San Jose State, and is scouting spots in Yountville and the East Bay.

Also, when informed of the expansion, our intrepid counterpart at Eater LA responded, "So what exactly is the deal with Ike's Place? The guy sells sandwiches?" Oh, Los Angeles. Your innocence touches us all.
