SF Weekly, via the California Department of Public Health, warns us today to stay away from Marin County shellfish. Toxins in mussels have been detected at dangerous levels, which means clams, oysters, and scallops may pose a risk, too. Keep in mind this warning only applies to sport-harvested shellfish; commercial harvesters are subjected to constant rigorous testing and their bivalves are considered safe for consumption. So for now, put your clamming boots away and leave it to the professionals. [SFW]
