UNION SQUARE—Only a couple of months after it brought chef Michel Réthoré over from France, Bouche has announced that he's leaving, with owner Guillaume Issaverdens dubbing him a little too "old guard" for the restaurant. Réthoré replaced fellow French chef Nico Borzee, who decided to head back to the mother country. There's no word on his replacement yet; Issaverdens says he's looking for someone spry and fast-paced. SAN FRANCISCO—SF Beer Week isn't just about drinking straight brews, as SF Weekly discovered: it's also a time to sample the burgeoning world of beer cocktails, with Anderson Valley, Crispin cider, Speakeasy, and 15 Romolo all holding special beer mixology events. There's a beer cocktail and artisan caramel pairing at Blackbird, too. [SFoodie]
NORTH BEACH/BROOKLYN—Coi held a fundraiser back in December to benefit acclaimed Brooklyn restaurant Governor, which sustained major damage in Hurricane Sandy and needed to raise funds to reopen. Sadly, Governor never made it, announcing it was closed for good this week, so Daniel Patterson shifted the $5K his team raised to benefit legendary Coney Island pizza spot Totonno's, which also needed funds in the wake of Sandy. A grateful Totonno's said they plan to use Patterson's cash to replace the floors. Proof that even the fanciest tasting-menu chef likes a good slice. [Serious Eats]
PETALUMA—Dates have been announced for this year's Artisan Cheese Festival, which will take place from March 22-24 at the Sonoma County Sheraton in Petaluma. Hands-on cheesemaking, wine and beer pairing instruction, cooking demonstrations, and of course, plenty of fromage-eating are all on the schedule. Tickets are available here, and a lot of events have already sold out, so get cracking. [EaterWire]
