Rice Paper Scissors' Valerie Luu and Katie Kwan have an ambitious array of ideas planned for Lucky Mission Festival, a celebration of the Lunar New Year that begins tomorrow. Four separate events are going down between February 9-22 in tribute to the Year of the Snake.

The series begins with a Good Luck Biergarten from 6-10 p.m. at Florida Street Cafe (710 Florida) on February 9. The combination mess hall and indoor beer gathering features an à la carte menu of dishes such as imperial rolls, fried mochi dumplings, and sticky rice cakes. Also at Florida Street Cafe is a family-style dinner on February 16 called the T?t Holiday Banquet, featuring steamed whole fish and garlic, pan-seared tamarind prawns, and other items to share; advance tickets ($60) are right this way. The next day, they'll host a Potsticker Party including instruction and dumpling making from 4-7 p.m. at the private headquarters of Good Eggs (Hampshire and Mariposa Streets); reserve a spot ($40) here. And they'll break it all down with a Lion Dance Party at the Verdi Club on February 22 (admission is $10). These ladies continue to push the envelope of what smart chefs can do without a permanent home.
