Voting for Food & Wine's People's Best New Chef in America contest has ended, and while none of our local chefs took home the national title (that honor went to Brendan McGill of Seattle's Hitchcock), SPQR chef Matthew Accarrino did manage to score the nod for People's Best New Chef in California. The actual Best New Chef honors, as chosen by F&W's editorial team, arrive next week; local contenders include Accarrino, Kim Alter, Evan and Sarah Rich, and Thomas McNaughton. [Food & Wine]
