Eight-month-old Amber Dhara, which was lambasted by Bauer with a one-star review, is hoping to save its reputation by importing chef Manish Tayagi, who was previously chef de cuisine at D.C.'s highly-acclaimed Rasika (which the Washington Post's Tom Sietsema dubbed "the best Indian restaurant in the country" last fall). It's a pretty wholesale turnaround, as Tayagi will be revamping the menu and cocktails, while proprietor Vijay Bist will be dropping prices and working to address the noise issues that have plagued the spot. Traffic has been slow and the enormous space in prime Valencia territory is likely costing Bist a fortune, so hopefully this shift will get the restaurant moving in the right direction.
