Wine bar chain Eno has opened its first SF location in Union Square, featuring wine, cheese, and chocolate. Owned by Chicago-based Strategic Hotels and the Cornerstone Group, which is also responsible for the Michael Jordan's steakhouse chain, the new 55-seat bar will feature more than 300 bottles (half under $50) and 50 by the glass options, starting at $9. The setting is designed to be unintimidating to novice drinkers, with a variety of flights that pair different styles of wine with each other or with a selection of cheeses and chocolates. For your perusal, here are the wine flights menu and cheese menu.

Though it's a chain, Eno is big on featuring local merchants in each of its locations, and will carry items from producers like Berkeley's Chocolatier Blue and SF-based small-batch pinot noir purveyor A.P. Vin (which has its own special $25 flight). Joel Kampfe, who was last seen as the sommelier at now-shuttered Mountain View wine bar Savvy Cellar, is running the wine program, and other vintners and sommeliers will visit frequently for special events. This is Eno's fourth California location; the three others are at the Ritz-Carltons in Half Moon Bay and Laguna Niguel, and at the Hotel Coronado in San Diego.

The grand-opening party for Eno will be tomorrow night from 6-9 p.m., with winemakers from A.P. Vin, Qualia, and Carlotta in attendance.
