Brenda's Launching Libby Jane Cafe, A Coffee Shop

First expansion taking too long to come down the pike? Take a page from Brenda Buenviaje and Libby Truesdell, and try another. The dynamic wife duo behind Brenda's French Soul Food are still mired in getting their Fillmore po'boy shop online, but they've decided to plow forward by opening a quick-service cafe in the former City Smoke Shop two doors down from Brenda's. It'll be named Libby Jane Cafe after Truesdell, and will serve Ritual espresso, chicory coffee, and those famous biscuits at breakfast, followed by sandwiches and soups at lunch.

The intent is to provide a to-go compatriot to the ever-bustling lunch and brunch scene at Brenda's, and while they'll have a counter that will seat 6-8, most of the items are meant to be carried back to the office. They're shooting for a midsummer launch (ahead of the po'boy shop, which has no firm date yet), opening at 7 am on weekdays and 8 on weekends and running until 3 pm.
