StarChefs Names 2013 Bay Area Rising Stars

The folks of StarChefs swing into town every three years to select a new crop of Rising Star Chefs, and they just announced the latest batch today. The list reads like a who's-who of the hottest spots in the area, with honorees everywhere from Bar Tartine to Verve Coffee Roasters to Trick Dog to Linden Street Brewery. Some younger talents from established restaurants, including Quince, Manresa, and Absinthe, were also recognized for their contributions, and two of our three Eater Young Guns nominees from the Bay Area were also on the list.

Chefs are required to be under 40 in order to be chosen for the honor, and must have 10 or fewer years as an executive chef; chefs de cuisine are required to exert "near-total menu control," and sommeliers must be responsible for at least half of a restaurant's wine-buying activity.
