CIVIC CENTER/THE MISSIONTwo new brunch services are coming online this weekend: Soul Groove will be slinging their chicken and waffles and "Benedict-type scenarios" from 10 am-3 pm (here's the menu), while newish Rhea's Cafe will expand beyond sandwiches to offer coffee, mimosas, bacon and eggs, and...chicken and waffles during the same hours. THE EMBARCADEROA new vendor is joining the party at the Saturday Ferry Plaza Farmers' Market, beginning June 22: Cremeux Ex Machina, a gelato and sorbetto maker that sources milk for and makes their treats on-site at a dairy farm in Petaluma. This Modern Farmer article has more on the couple behind the project. Also coming to the Saturday market is regular Thursday vendor Sow, the Dogpatch-based juice bar. [7x7]

THE MISSION—The latest bakery to take the rotating pop-up spot at Dandelion Chocolate is Native Baking Company, the new project from former Salt House and Spruce pastry chef Jennifer Kenny Nguyen. From tomorrow through Sunday, she'll serve up black forest cake jars, caramel-cocoa nib Rice Krispie treats, strawberry cheesecake, brownies, and more. [EaterWire]

CASTROBlackbird is hosting a complimentary tasting of Balvenie Scotch next Wednesday, June 19, with the brand's Northern California whiskey associate Lux Zuchetto. They'll also have rare whiskey flights and a Blood and Sand made with Doublewood 12-year, as well as tastings of the ultra-rare Tun 1401 for the first 10 people who request it. [EaterWire]
