Former Kokkari and Aqua pastry chef Sybil Johnson has struck out on her own, and Saturday marks the debut of her new restaurant, Heartbaker, in the former Chapeau! digs at Clement and 15th. She'll be opening with a menu of signature pastries for dine-in or takeout, as well as a savory menu of lunch and dinner items, like sandwiches and light bites. Also, there is beer and wine by the bottle.
Ms. Tablehopper has a couple shots of the space, and reports that Johnson has plans to roll out plated desserts in addition to her pastry lineup eventually.
As for coffee, which will be necessary with all that sweet stuff, Heartbaker will be serving Hearth Coffee Roasters coffee. Down the line she hopes to add beer and wine taps, too.
Hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays, closed Mondays.
