In further Oakland news, another S.F. franchise is continuing its expansion eastward, and that's Chow. The popular, family-friendly restaurant has two San Francisco locations, two others in Lafayette and Danville, and as Diablo Dish reports, owner Tony Gulisano is closing on a deal for an undisclosed space on Piedmont Avenue, maybe possibly the vacant Blockbuster space across from Commis. All he'll say is that it's at the western end of the retail corridor, so the opposite end from Adesso, and they're aiming to be open by Summer 2014, suggesting that a fair amount of construction is involved. The new location will be similar the Lafayette branch, with a small produce and prepared foods section next to the restaurant.
