Though a visit to newspaper-themed Tribune Tavern hits Bauer with nostalgia for "an era of linotype," he's less swept away by Huw Thornton's "definition of pub grub" menu, which "could have been written a decade ago or today." Highlights include "one of the best versions of shepherd's pie [he's] tasted" and solid fried chicken, but the staff "haven't had much training" and repetitive garnishes and "only average" sides and appetizers don't help. Overall verdict: two stars. [Chron]
