LAKESIDE—Sad news: after more than 20 years on Ocean Avenue, beloved diner Lakeside Cafe is closing its doors due to a landlord issue. It'll go dark at the end of August. [Inside Scoop]

FINANCIAL DISTRICT—Though Shorty Goldstein's has gotten good marks for its pastrami and other Jewish specialties, there's been some kvetching about the quality of their Cinderella Bakery-made bread. So it's good news that they're now making their own. [@sgoldsteins]

THE MISSIONSamin Nosrat has announced that her guests at Tartine Afterhours on July 31 will be Franny Stephens and Andrew Feinberg of NYC's acclaimed Franny's. They'll have crostini, wine, and sweets, plus cookbooks for signing. Tickets are $35 or $60 with the book. [@ciaosamin]

NORTH OAKLANDThe brick-and-mortar for The Grease Box now has an address (942 Stanford Ave.), an opening date (mid-July), and a breakfast pop-up (muffins, OneNinetySeven coffee). [EBX]
