Status: Opened Monday
Fast and tasty pizza is the focus at Palio Pronto, the casual offshoot of long-running FiDi Italian spot Palio d'Asti. Martino DiGrande, the 29-year-old scion of restaurateurs, opened the new window as a lunchtime alternative to the nearby food trucks, offering Sicilian-style foccacia pizza ($5/slice) in flavors like pork sausage with red pepper, prosciutto and artichoke, and tomato and basil. The streamlined menu also includes two $5 salads, a romaine-beet-goat cheese combo and an orange-fennel-radicchio variation, and $3 cannoli or tiramisu for dessert.
The window is also offering a loyalty program through Perka, with a free pizza or salad for every $80 spent. There's no seating other than a few patio tables in nice weather, but since most folks are likely looking for something to take back to the office, it's not much of an issue. Hours are 11:30 am-2:30 pm, Monday-Friday; check their website for updates on the pizzas of the day. They're also throwing a $10 happy-hour pizza party next Wednesday; Tablehopper has more details.
