Emperor Norton's Boozeland Taking Deco Space

The former Deco Lounge, soon to be Boozeland! [Photo: Flickr/clickfen]
The team behind Benders Bar has had the keys to the former Deco Lounge in the Tenderloin for a while now, and they've finally spilled the beans to Tablehopper about what's going in: Emperor Norton's Boozeland. While the name implies a wacky SF theme park, the space is actually pretty simple: rock 'n roll, basic dive-bar drinks, and a bust of the eponymous Protector of Mexico in the former ticket window.

The renovation has been extensive, with seven layers of flooring nearly a foot deep going out and the vintage bar staying put. They've also completely revamped the electrical and plumbing, knocked down a wall behind the bar, and opened up the back patio for late-night outdoor drinking (up until 10 pm, that is). The bar should be opening in the next week or two; we'll have more info as the final hour approaches.
