NOB HILL—Super-sad news for fans of Dennis Leary's adorable Canteen: it's shutting down at the end of the summer. Though the eight-year-old restaurant remains busy, Leary wants to focus on his new projects, Cafe Terminus and Trocadero Club (the latter is the newly-announced name for the former RJ's Sports Bar space). Those are due in late August or early September. [Inside Scoop]
NORTH BEACH—Another report from the Kanye West-in-SF beat: he was at Park Tavern on Saturday for brunch with Instagram founder Kevin Systrom, an investor in the restaurant. According to co-owner Anna Weinberg, he had pancakes and a McLaren cocktail (gin, cucumber juice, lemon, ginger beer) and said both were "amazing." [EaterWire]
NOPA/WESTERN ADDITION—Josey Baker, bread guru of The Mill, has bounced back from his bike accident by fulfilling his restaurant's name and making his own flour. Starting Friday, his rye bread will be made entirely from house-milled grains. [SFoodie]
LISTICLES—Out magazine compiled a list of the 200 best gay bars in the world, and SF stalwarts The Lookout, Badlands, and Moby Dick all made the list. [Out via Castro Biscuit]
LAS VEGAS—Finally, from the department of expansions: Zappos mogul Tony Hsieh wants to turn Vegas' much-maligned downtown into a riff on the Mission. Maybe bicoastalites Mission Chinese Food and Rosamunde would be down for third locations? [NYT via Uptown Almanac]
