The process of starting a bar or restaurant can be full of surprises, but for Bergerac, they proved to be pretty great ones: the new SOMA bar (which is still on its way) has also spawned a second-floor dance club, Audio Discotech, opening tomorrow night. While it may have been announced after its sister spot downstairs, Audio is certainly no slouch: the 3,500-square-foot former Mist space has been totally transformed, with a cream, gold, and burgundy design that's meant to evoke a '70s Cadillac.

Owners Anderson Pugash, David Brinkley, and Bruce McDonald have ensured all the Vegas-style trappings are in place, from the high-end sound system, designed by Funktion-One and featuring 1,200 square feet of acoustic paneling for optimal listening, to the extremely awesome 45-foot wall embedded with over 1,000 LED lights. They'll offer 3-D projection and visuals to accompany the sounds of visiting DJs: this weekend's lineup includes David Carvalho and Pierce Fulton, and EDX, DJ Nile, and Travis Wild are all on the schedule for August.

The cocktail list comes from Russell Davis, the Rickhouse and Ice Cream Bar whiz who's also doing Bergerac's cocktail menu, and service will be overseen by Yael Vengroff, who took home the 2012 Speed Rack title for fastest female bartender. The drinks are designed to be made fast and appeal to the non-cocktail-savvy, but still offer flavor a notch higher than the typical vodka-soda lineup. Options include an Aperol "splitz" with a dose of Orange Fanta, a Corpse Reviver touched with blue curaçao, and a frightening-sounding vodka-Jager-raspberry-melon concoction called Sex with an Alligator. And of course, it's a club, meaning there's bottle service. Here's the cocktail menu.

Audio will be open Thursday-Saturday, 9 pm-2 am. Meanwhile, less dance-oriented Bergerac is under construction, and is hoping to open late this month or early next month; it'll offer clubgoers a more upscale food and cocktail experience, should they desire it between sets or after a show.
