Beaux, a New Gay Bar and Club, Coming to the Castro

New, 10 comments

There's bright spot amidst the recent closures of longtime gay bars: Beaux, a new nightclub and bar, is opening up soon on Market and Noe. Tablehopper reports that Tim Eicher, Rob Giljum, and Rob Cotterman, the owners of The Edge, Q Bar and Midnight Sun, are behind the project, which is set to go live sometime in September.

The location is no stranger to the scene: it housed the Detour, Jet, and most recently, Trigger. Owners of the new spot say Beaux will have superior lighting, visuals, and sound, plus world-class entertainment for the best experience around.

Geremia Design has undertaken the project of revamping the space, which is now divided into multiple sections for chatting, cocktailing and dancing. The mezzanine and dancefloor will remain in the same spot, but bar itself has been redesigned to lend more room to the space. Oh, and about those cocktails: Scotty Kennedy of Tacolicious is designing the drinks menu, so it's sure to get a little more creative than your typical vodka soda.

The name is French for "boyfriends," of course, and the bar's website states that this "Castro bar and dance club seeks LTR," so let's hope the relationship will stand the test of time. Pending the usual permitting roadblocks, Beaux hopes to be open next month.
