The rumors are true: after launching Redford earlier this year, Adam Snyder and Hugo Gamboa (along with Andy Wasserman, who co-owns The Brixton with them), will be turning the former City Tavern space in the Marina into an upscale Mexican restaurant. According to Inside Scoop, it'll be called Sabrosa (Spanish for "flavorful"), and the kitchen will be headed by Jose Ramos, who made his name as the opening chef of Nopalito before coming onboard with Silvia McCollow at Nido, where their food took home three stars from Bauer in May.
The menu will explore regional Mexican cuisine in what Wasserman calls "a food-first concept balanced with a good lively bar." They're completely gutting the space to get the job done, and the quartet hope to open it later this year. It's right next door to Cafe Claude Marina, which is also aiming for a fall opening, meaning there's going to be a lot of activity on that stretch of Fillmore very soon.
