Come October 5th, a star-studded assembly of local chefs will come together for an international street food bonanza at the Ferry Building. Billed as a celebration of immigrants' contributions to California's culture and diversity, the Street Eats gala is a benefit for OneVietnam, a local nonprofit dedicated to fostering philanthropy in the Vietnamese-American community.
The event is spearheaded by Charles Phan of The Slanted Door, and will feature 15 tasting stations with street foods from around the world prepared by the chefs of Rich Table, Bar Tartine, Commonwealth and many more, plus two open bars featuring cocktails by Erik Adkins of Phan's Hard Water.
Here's who you can expect to see dishing up their creative takes on the street food theme:
Cortney Burns and Nick Balla of Bar Tartine
Rob Lam of Butterfly
Jason Fox of Commonwealth
Dominica Rice-Cisneros of Cosecha
Kim Alter of Haven
John Finger and Terry Sawyer of Hog Island Oyster Co.
Ravi Kapur of Liholiho Yacht Club
Martin Castillo of Limón Rotisserie
Meg Ray of Miette
Greg Dunmore of Nojo
Staffan Terje of Perbacco
Maxine Siu of Plow
Evan Rich and Sarah Rich of Rich Table
Charles Phan of The Slanted Door
Leo Beckerman and Evan Bloom of Wise Sons
General admission tickets will get you bottomless plates of street foods and access to the open bar, and early-bird tickets are going for $95 at this very moment. Semi-formal attire is recommended, so dust off your red-carpet togs for a special night on the town—and don't forget to come hungry.
