Slicer Pizzeria, the passion project from former Boot & Shoe Service, Pizzaiolo, and Gioia pizzaiolo Colin Etezadi, is now open in Oakland. It's a small, simple space with a primarily takeout-oriented business model, whether you're stopping in for a slice to go ($3-3.50) or picking up a whole pie to take home ($20-23). With that said, great care goes into the pies, with seasonally rotating toppings like housemade sausage and ricotta, early girl tomatoes, pancetta, summer squash, and spicy peppers. Southerners will also appreciate the option of a cup of ranch dressing for dipping.

The petite menu is rounded out by a little gem lettuce salad and two sweets: chocolate pot de creme and basil panna cotta. Seasonal aguas frescas, beer, and bottled soft drinks are the only beverage options. Diners are encouraged to call ahead, so Etezadi has their pie ready and waiting to tote home. If they want to stay in, though, some bar seating at the window and a communal table with benches can accommodate 20. Hours are Tuesday-Sunday, 11:30 am-9 pm; they're closed Mondays.
