A lot of new coffee roasteries are popping up in the East Bay: Scarlet City, Jewel Box, and now Artís Coffee (1717B 4th Street, Berkeley), which will not only sell and brew up its house-roasted beans, but all the supplies needed for roasting, grinding, and brewing one's own java. The owners won a national competition for their business plan, which gives a whole new meaning to the concept of a homebrew shop. The opening is scheduled for later this fall. [Berkeleyside Nosh]
