Status: Opened yesterday

The Ne Timeas empire of Flour + Water, Central Kitchen, and Salumeria has expanded again, with the opening of a second location of Salumeria in the Mission, seven blocks from the original. Salumeria #2 is housed inside the former Hamm's brewery, which has been converted to office space, and is targeted at the building's workers (and other nearby office types). It's a more pared-down offering compared to the main branch, with a reduced larder component and a more focused food program.

Chefs Thomas McNaughton and Ryan Pollnow are offering a menu very similar to that of the original branch, with Italian-inflected seasonal fare like roasted pepper and tomato soup, spinach salad with summer squash and cherry tomatoes, and roast beef and fontina sandwiches on a pretzel roll with horseradish aioli. Morning coffee and pastries are also offered, as are granola, yogurt with fruit, and a breakfast wrap. Here's the opening menu.

A forthcoming afternoon happy hour, from 4-7 pm, features salumi and cheese plates, which should pair nicely with the local brews (including, yes, Hamm's) and Italian and Californian wines that will eventually be available. The interior design of Salumeria is of a piece with the rest of the building, which was designed by TMG Partners; concrete floors, polished steel light fixtures, and mahogany wood screens decorate the space. For now, it's open only on weekdays, from 7 am-7 pm.
