Downtown rice-ball lovers now have access to a brand-new Onigilly location. This week, the popular Japanese lunch destination and La Cocina alum began dishing up their signature seaweed-wrapped brown rice pockets from a new takeout-style spot on the ground level of Embarcadero Center. Modeled as a grab-and-go rather than a sit-down style restaurant, the new spot is a welcome lunch option for time-pressed workers looking for a fast and healthy meal.

The menu will be much the same as their Kearny location, with fillings like snow crab, unagi, hijiki (braised seaweed and carrots), soboro (ginger-honey braised ground beef), and many more. They don't have rice bowls or noodle salads on offer, but that might change in the future. Owner Koji Kanematsu also still has a cookbook on the way in December, if you want to try to replicate the goods at home. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-6pm, and Sunday, 11:30am-3pm.
