Eater National got the first look at Daniel Patterson's forthcoming cookbook, Coi: Stories and Recipes, due out from Phaidon October 14th. Patterson's debut book is less of a straightforward cookbook than an exercise in narrative storytelling: there's no ingredient list for each recipe, for instance, but rather a brief essay on how each dish was created. As such, the recipes aren't necessarily meant to be followed in the home kitchen: "I wanted them to be fun to read," says Patterson in the introduction, "so I delved deeply into some aspects of the processes and not others."
