Fans of Hayes Valley favorite Mazzat can now welcome a new addition from owner Adam Chamsine, who's directed his penchant for Lebanese cuisine into a new project called Mazza Luna. The more upscale answer to Mazzat's family-friendly neighborhood vibe, Chamsine's new spot has a chic, loungy atmosphere and a focus on wine, beer and small plates.

Born in Lebanon and raised in Sweden, Chamsine makes use of family recipes in a dinner menu that features tapas such as fatet betnjan (fried eggplant topped with garlic yogurt sauce, pita croutons and pine nuts) and kibbeh (deep fried cracked wheat stuffed with ground beef and pine nuts, with garlic sauce). Hummus, babaganouge and falafel all appear on the small plates menu, which features nothing above $14. (See the full dinner menu here.)

Mazza Luna is also open for lunch, providing a much-needed dining option for nearby workers. The lunch menu is less extensive but features classic starters and Lebanese paninis like the kefir cheese-filled lebne sandwich with tomato, mint and olives, plus salads, lentil soup and pita pizzas like the chicken artichoke feta with grilled chicken and spinach. (See the lunch menu.)

The spot also boasts a wine selection that spans the Middle East, Europe and California, and a sleek black bar and cozy ambiance make this a romantic date spot as well as lunch stop and happy hour spot. Mazza Luna is open 11:00am-2:30pm daily for lunch, 5pm-10pm Sunday-Thursday, and 5-11pm Friday-Saturday.
