Rumors have been floating around in the past couple of weeks that Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen might be shutting down, and as it turns out, they're only partially true. As Tablehopper reports, LaSalle Hotel Properties, which owns Jasper's digs at the Hotel Serrano, has shifted management companies from Kimpton Hotels to Access Hotels & Resorts. Though Access, which doesn't currently have other properties in SF, hasn't officially commented on whether Jasper's will survive in the long term, it's staying open for now, and employees have been encouraged to interview with the new management.
One employee, however, isn't planning to stay: bar manager and top local mixologist Kevin Diedrich, who told Inside Scoop that "losing it the way we did wasn't ideal...it's bittersweet." He and his bar team are planning to call it quits after a blowout party on Friday night, after which he plans to take a few weeks' vacation to regroup, pick up bar shifts, and figure out his next move. There's no word at the moment as to whether chef Mike Ransom will remain with the new ownership, or whether Jasper's will eventually undergo a revamp or closure in the long term, if the Serrano is given a makeover.
Update, 1/27/14, 10:15 am: A representative from Access Hotels & Resorts tells us that the group "loves Jasper's" and plans to keep the concept in place, and that they're in talks with a new chef and mixologist who they hope to announce in the coming weeks.
