Week in Reviews

NYT reporters are clearly very into dining at Tosca Cafe: a few weeks after Pete Wells went there, Florence Fabricant also dropped in for a meal she calls "Italian-American, modernized and distinguished by invention and, frequently, a lighter touch." Though the hour and 15 minute wait wasn't fun, it was "ameliorated by cocktails and a plate of deliciously crackling fried pig tails," and an "accomplished" Amatriciana set the bar at dinner. Cannoli were "forgettable," but overall, "the reputations of April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman stood the long-distance test." [NYT]
