Southern Pacific Team Taking Over Dogpatch's The Goat

There's a booming booze scene in the Dogpatch, with upcoming breweries Triple Voodoo and Magnolia en route, plus updated watering holes like the Third Rail and the Dogpatch Saloon. Now, local drinking spot Hogan's Goat Tavern (known to some as simply "The Goat") has landed new owners in the form of Southern Pacific proprietors Chris Lawrence and Brad LaMotte.

The pair just received the keys from previous owner Christopher Webster, who officially closed The Goat's doors on December 31st. The new owners plan to retain the neighborhood-friendly vibe of the space, which Lawrence says has been a bar since the turn of the last century. Many details, including a name for the new bar, haven't been hammered out yet, but a "relaxing and inviting" low-key concept is in the works. Lawrence and LaMotte are both beer guys, so you can expect a solid selection of brews, along with a drink list with a focus on traditional cocktails. For now, the pair are targeting an opening in time for the start of baseball season.
