Smuggler's Cove, Trick Dog Named to World's 50 Best Bars

Four U.S. bars were in the Top Ten.

Each year, a panel of 330 spirits and cocktail experts select the World's 50 Best Bars list, a compendium of the greatest places to drink around the globe. Smuggler's Cove has been a staple of the list for the entirety of its run, and it rose enormously in the ranks, from #30 last year to #16 this year. "A tribute to rum as much as it is a tribute to itself, Smuggler's Cove is fast becoming a global tiki reference point...the often complex concoctions are made with expert skill," say the judges. And for the first time, a second SF bar made the cutoff: Trick Dog, which clocked in at #33 and was described as "fast becoming one of San Francisco's landmarks."

While London's Artesian held the top slot for the second year in a row, American bars were the most represented in the top 10, with NYC's Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog climbing to #2 (it was #5 last year), alongside fellow Manhattanites Attaboy (#4) and Employees Only (#5), and Seattle's Canon (#6). 16 American spots in total made the top 50, including Chicago's Aviary and Three Dots and a Dash, NYC's The NoMad and PDT, and New Orleans' Cure.
