BERNAL HEIGHTS—Little Bee Baking turns a year old tomorrow, and baker Stacie Pierce is celebrating with a cupcake happy hour, from 4-6 pm. She'll give out free mini cupcakes, one per person, until they run out. [Bernalwood]

LAUREL HEIGHTS—Nico is shaking up its menu format, switching to a duo of prix-fixe menus (three courses for $45 or five courses for $55), and wine pairings ($30 for the smaller menu, $40 for the larger). The bar will still offer bites and an a la carte menu. [EaterWire]

UNION SQUARE—Sugar Rush, the annual dessert-centric fundraiser for youth mentoring organization Spark, goes down Thursday night at the Sir Francis Drake hotel. Akiko's, Scala's Bistro, and Georges are among the participating restaurants. Tickets are $85, and include bites and an open beer and wine bar. [EaterWire]

MISSION—The Cheese School is hosting its annual California Artisan Cheese Guild fundraiser on Thursday, featuring samples from 24 cheesemakers (like Point Reyes, Cowgirl, and Cypress Grove), plus free-flowing beer and hard cider. Tickets are a reasonable $35. [EaterWire]
