EVERYWHERE—Zagat released their top 30 industry stars under 30 with youngsters like 25-year-old Benu chef Laetizia Madsen, 29-year-old 4505 butcher Thomas McEntee and 25-year-old Tony's Pizza Napoletana head pizzaiola in charge Laura Meyer (among many others) all getting some much deserved recognition. [Zagat]
MID-MARKET—Coming soon to the Twitter building at 10th and Market: The Market on Market. What started as an simple neighborhood grocery store has grown to 22,000 square feet. One of The Market's investors, who also has a stake in Glen Park's Canyon Market, sees the place as California answer to Eataly in New York and Chicago, but the real buried lede here is that supermarkets in the Bay Area do twice as much business selling prepared meals as the national grocery story average. We like our fancy grocery stores, but no one here actually likes to cook, apparently. [Chronicle]
CASTRO—Noted local bars The Lookout and Truck will be dressing up as each other for Halloween this year: for one night only on Thursday, October 30th, the Lookout will be Truck and Truck will be the Lookout. Weird, we know. There's a $5 cover that gets you into both parties if you feel like party hopping. Costumes are encouraged, so you'll have to cobble together your whole getup a day early. [EaterWire]
MISSION—What's happening with the impending closure of the Elbo Room? Something, maybe. Possibly also nothing. According to Elbo Room's owner Matt Shapiro, the bar and music venue's lease goes for at least another year, but the neighborhood meetings for the proposed condo development will start next week. [Mission Local]
FIDI—For a different sort of autumnal drink, Ramen Bar is now doing boozy boba milk tea made with soy milk, honey, yuzu, cognac, thai tea and boba. If Boba's not your thing, they've also got a new menu of seasonal dishes, sake jello shots and some sort of Halloween spiked punch. Pabu, their sister restaurant next door, is likewise doing some new seasonal drinks. [EaterWire]
CASTRO—Sliderbar could re-open as early as tomorrow after an unfortunate run in between a cockroach and a health inspector last week.
