The straightforwardly named and nationally acclaimed GrilledCheezGuy will be getting a semi-permanent home in Hayes Valley starting Tuesday, November 4th. Chef du fromage Michael Davidson, who has been making appearance and melting hearts at festivals like Eat Real and S.F. Street Food for some time now, tells Eater the new cafe will be open inside the Rickshaw Stop at 155 Fell Street on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11am-3pm, or until they run out of orders.
To start, GCG will be doing a dine-in/take-out menu with items from local vendors and a self-service condiment bar that includes their signature sambal tomato jam served out of "cocktail guns." (Whatever those are?) On the dietary restrictions front: there will be vegan soups and gluten-free quiche from Quiche & Carry Expect a reservation system and bicycle delivery service to follow in the near future.
Also, as a little incentive to try Davidson's grilled cheese, which took home the 1st place trophy at the 2013 National Grilled Cheese Championship in Los Angeles, the first 300 sandwiches will be free during their grand opening on Tuesday, November 4th.
