The team behind slick SoMa supperclub 25 Lusk have a new project opening in the Westfield San Francisco Centre (a.k.a. "the mall") next week. Tap (415) is a 140-seat beer and cocktail bar with a full bar and a focus on local craft breweries.
The restaurant is the latest addition to the Westfield's Under the Dome Collection, which is not a line of fragrances, but a group of restaurants on the fourth floor of the building. Tap (415) joins Martin Yan's MY China. Lark Creek Steak, Cupola and an all-white-everything version of La Boulange.
According to the Chronicle, Tap (415) is "a modern beer garden of sorts" with long communal tables, a Giants color scheme and more than two dozen TVs for those occasions when one must absolutely watch a sporting event in the mall. As co-owner Chad Bourdon tells Scoop, it's not so much a sports bar as it is, "a place where people could come have a cocktail and watch a game."
The food follows suit with upscale, booze-friendly bar foods like burgers, brats and smoked short ribs. Everything from beer, wine and a few of the cocktails will be pouring from a tap, and there is promise of an "adult milkshake" menu. Eventually, there will also be an option to order and pay via smartphone app, perfect for those times when your patience for human interaction wears a little thin.
